Today's Homework

Just to remind you, today's homework is to make sure you learn your spellings as your test is tomorrow (Wednesday). Also you have two pages (1 and 2) from the Photocopy Masters maths book. Page 1 asks you to write the value of the digit. We have spent a lot of time on this in class this week, so you should be OK. If you get stuck, use the columns:
HTh TTh Th H T U
5 7 8 2 4 0
And see which column the 8 or the 3 is in depending on the question.
In the above example, the 8 is in the 'Thousands' column, so the answer is 8000, as that is the value of the 8 in that number.
Hope that helps.

Page 2: Again we have practised this in class. It is easiest to start with the units, write them down, if there are no units, put a zero. Write each digit one by one from the units up, every time there are none of a particular number (Like no hundreds, or no thousands) you MUST write a zero in its place to make the PLACE VALUE correct.

e.g. 100,000 50,000 600 70 2 = 150, 672
500,000 2000 300 40 9 = 502, 349

Tomorrow you will get your first reading book, and there will be a quiz question for you to do over the weekend, so I can see who bothers to look at the Blog! It is for YOU, please use it.

See you tomorrow,
Mrs. W.
