Welcome to our class Blog!

This is the Blog of class Y5.5, Mrs. Ward's class THE BRITISH INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF JEDDAH. A 'Blog' is a bit like a web site and a bit like a diary. Here you can see what our class have been up to in and out of school, and check the homework tasks that have been set.

Goodbye Hannah

It was Hannah's last day in Y5 today. I wish her a wonderful summer and all the best for Year 6.

This Week's Golden Book!

Nizar faced his fears at the beach this week. He was nervous from the very first leap into the sea, but he ended up going snorkelling and kayaking around the island and beyond and had a thoroughly enjoyable week. Well done Nizar.

What am I reading to the class?

Scream Street - The Skull of the Skeleton. It's a bit funny and a bit weird, a bit scary and a bit witty, but overall hugely entertaining! . Therefore, I hope you'll agree it's a perfect book to finish the year. A book to remind you of your teacher!!! LOL!!! Not to mention that the main character is called Luke Watson who is a ten year old. Almost Luke Wilson from our class. SPOOKY!!!! (but I don't think Luke Wilson turns into a werewolf when it's a full moon!)

Get ahead by researching the new ITU!

PLANTS and FEELINGS

We will be learning about the life cycle of plants from how seeds grow, all the way through the life of the plant and how they make more seeds including how the seeds are dispersed differently by different plants. We will also look at the parts of flowering plants and the jobs each parts do.

In Feelings we will be talking about our own emotions, plus looking at Art and Music which stimulate different emotional responses. It's a 'touchy feely' topic. My favourite!

About Me

Kim Ward: Teacher of Y5.5 and Coordinator of Year 5, this is my fifth year at BISJ and my 20th year of teaching. I started my career in the London Boroughs of Redbridge and Tower Hamlets where I worked in a Junior School and a large Primary School for seven years in total. I then moved overseas and taught in Kuwait for 8 years, before moving to Jeddah in 2006. I have two children at BISJ attending the Primary Department in Y1 and Y3 and my husband also teaches in Year 5. My hobbies include theatre, especially musicals, singing, dancing and acting and I am looking forward to starting the year with my new class!
